展览理念 Ideas 

1、值此庆祝苏州工业园区成立 19 周年之际,金鸡湖美术馆计划举办“新加坡当 代艺术展”,并作为新加坡艺术节的大型活动之一。近 20 年中国与新加坡在面对 世界表现出一体化趋向的同时,相互之间的历史、合作的关联已转为一种现实的 依存。为此,通过主办新加坡当代艺术展,希望在长期经济合作的基础上,加强 在文化艺术领域的探讨、交流,并为苏州的观众提供、呈现了解新加坡当代艺术 的发展的状况。 

To mark its celebration of the 19th anniversary of the establishment of SIP (Suzhou Industrial Park), Suzhou Jinji Lake Art Museum plans to host a “Singapore Contemporary Art Exhibition”, which is regarded as one of the large-scale Singapore art event in Suzhou. In the past 20 years, both China and Singapore have developed very close bilateral ties and as history has shown, a high level of cooperation between these two countries has developed into a deep interdependence. To this end, the Museum will be hosting this exhibition not only to present the development of contemporary art in Singapore to Suzhou audiences, but also to strengthen cultural exchanges between Singapore and Suzhou. 

2、就视觉艺术而言,借此展览试图就中、新两国在异质同构的社会里,新加坡 的当代艺术如何保持区域性的文化多元化,对当下中国艺术所具有的互文性进行 深入探讨和视觉转换的呈现。这种相互合作可视为艺术上的交流和互文性的对 话,并为如何看待新加坡当代艺术生态提供了一种参照。 

From the visual arts perspective, this exhibition seeks to examine how Singapore and China, with their historical, social and cultural similarities and differences, look at each other through the lens of Singapore contemporary art and in the context of Singapore unique multi-cultural diversity. It also seeks to explore issues of social realities, viewpoints and perspectives, and encourage a deeper dialogue and understanding between the Singapore and Chinese contemporary art world. 

3、本此展览由冯博一先生作为总策展人,陆新先生作为美术馆策展人,集结新 加坡多位顶级当代艺术家,展示新加坡艺术这些年来的独特发展历程。同时探讨 新加波当代艺术家在新加坡特殊文化、地理和历史遗留下,如何解决艺术和民族 身份所带来的影响。他们与中国同行进行了一场活力与激情的艺术交流,寻求在 当代文化上的异同与共识。 

Curated by Chief Curator Feng Boyi and museum curator Lu Xin, this exhibition assembles a selection of leading Singapore contemporary artists that demonstrate how Singapore art has developed in its own unique ways over the years. It also examines how contemporary artists in Singapore have addressed critical issues of artistic and national identity, bearing in mind its unique cultural, geographical, historical legacies. The strategies of these artists bear interesting similarities and differences with their counterparts in China, and make for dynamic and exciting cultural conversations. 

4、目的与意义 Purpose and Significance 

通过这次新加坡当代艺术展览,提示并呈现出新加坡艺术家对自我文化环境的特 殊性与关联性的认知及视觉转换;展示出由这些特殊的现实文化所构成的新加坡 当代艺术的文化针对性。
Through the Singapore contemporary art exhibition, to prompt and show how the Singapore artists make associated cognitive and visual conversions in the self-cultural environment, to demonstrate the cultural relevance of Singapore contemporary art in the context of its unique modern culture. 

5、参展注意事项 Coordination and Execution 

1、美术馆和其策展人诚邀蔡斯民先生作为其在新加坡的艺术顾问,并指定一家 了解艺术家和作品的新加坡艺术咨询管理公司(新加坡银芸艺术咨询有限公司) 负责协调和展览的筹备工作,包括制定和完善展览概念,物流,宣传和公益项目 等。 

The Museum and its Curators, have a Singapore art advisor Mr Chua Soo Bin and have appointed a Singapore art consultancy and management firm (Silver Rue Art Consultancy LLP) that is familiar with the artists and their works, to facilitate 

co-ordination and execution of exhibition preparatory work, including developing and refining the exhibition concepts, logistics, collaterals, catalogues, exhibition public programs etc.
